Where We Started
The Ranch was founded in 2015 to raise Registered Longhorn Cattle. We are located in Coleman, Oklahoma (30 min NW of Durant), and are independently owned and operated.
My family raised beef cattle (typically brangus) for the first 22 years of my life. After a long hiatus, we re-entered the cattle business in 2015 with 17 acres of leased land in Royse City, Texas and first longhorn (BCC Sugar Cookie from Kathy Kittler - Arkansas) and was immediately hooked. Our next two heifers came from Rocking O Longhorn (Ross/Curtis Ohlendorf – Lockhart, TX) and then a cow, calf and bull from Dickinson Cattle Company (Ohio). Needing more room, we expanded from 17 to 34 acres and then quickly decided it would not be enough to support the ‘hobby’ so we purchased the 118 acre Ranch in Coleman.
I still get excited when I drive up and see the hills dotted with the various colors and patters of longhorns (and Llamas) and to watch them at a dead run to beat me to the troughs for their cubes.
There is a tremendous amount to learn about this breed and the friends in the business are quick to share experiences, lessons learned and whoppers of stories. I hope to continue to produce the quality of longhorns our base stock started.
